Not only do these sponge filters have a large chamber for real chemical or biofiltration media, they are also driven by an integrated powerhead. They do not require an noisy airpump and are completely silent.
 
Unlike traditional sponge filters, these are completely compatible and recommended for tanks with CO2 injection because they do not needlessly disturb the water surface. Instead, they are fitted with an (optional) venturi system for oxygenating your aquarium without losing CO2. 
 
These are ideal for shrimp tanks and tanks with small fry that could be sucked into the intake of other filters. They are slot-in replacements for simple sponge filters wherever they are needed. Ditch your finicky loud air-pump and relish the sound of silence!
