  • Description

Also known as the ‘Willow Hygrophila’, H. corymbosa ‘angustifolia’ has slender, ribbon-like foliage. The stems may reach up to 60 cm in height while their narrow leaves may reach up to 10 cm in length. Like the branches of a willow, closely grouped leaves may sway together as a unit. A moderate water current can help to keep this graceful plant at its healthiest.

Although this species is not difficult to cultivate, CO2 and nutrient supplementation may be needed for optimal growth, especially if lighting is intense. If provided with these conditions, H. corymbosa ‘angustifolia’ will grow rapidly. As it may be grown both submersed and emersed, thriving H. corymbosa ‘angustifolia’ specimens may pierce the water’s surface, continuing to grow in an emersed form and sometimes sprouting blue or violet flowers. However, if you do not want a semi-emersed plant, this species is easily trimmed; repeated trimmings will encourage bushy, branching growth. Specimens can be propagated by replanting aerial stem cuttings or lateral shoots.
